Authentic Connection.
Meaningful Change.

OUR MISSION

We help individuals and couples find greater ease within themselves.

Through a collaborative approach rooted in curiosity and compassion, we uncover the root causes of the patterns and pain points that matter most. With curated evidence-based strategies, we help clients live with more joy, authenticity, and connection.

OUR MISSION

Nestled in the Kitsilano neighbourhood, Kits Counselling was built around a dream of creating a particular kind of feeling—like walking into your favourite café where they know your order by heart, or stepping into the Mum and Pop shop that always greets you by name. Our hope is to offer that same quiet sense of being known, cared for, and part of something that feels a little like home.

“We are all just walking each other home.”

-Ram Dass

OUR STORY

Our clients have a voice within them advocating for positive change. Here are the values that shape how we help you get you there.

Relationship

Relationship is the most important ingredient to successful therapy - science backs us up here. We bring our whole selves and humanness to our work, so it doesn’t feel like you are talking to a clip board.

Integrity

Trustworthy, reliable, unshakable. Our clients bring their most tender parts to us, and we meet them with quiet strength and honesty.

Autonomy

We bring the clinical expertise, but know that you are the expert in your own experience. Our approach deeply honours your autonomy and choice.

Care

Our care for you extends beyond the session. We think about how your presentation went, or that tough conversation with a loved one, research tools to better support you, and review your treatment plan to help you reach your goals. You matter to us.

Curiosity

Curiosity helps us to explore your experience and make space for growth and change, while checking judgement at the door and leaving room for the unexpected.

Humour

We take our work with clients seriously, and humour allows us to connect with clients through our shared humanity, offering insight, truth, and unexpected wisdom.

OUR CLIENTS

Whether you're seeking ways to feel more at home within yourself, navigating burnout as a professional, caring for others with little space for your own needs, or a new grad finding your way—we’re here to walk alongside you. Our goal is always the same: to help you feel more connected—to yourself, your relationships, and your life — so you can move forward with greater insight, authenticity, and joy.

We don’t just spend an hour with you.

OUR TEAM

At Kits Counselling, our care for you doesn't end when the session does. Between sessions, we dive into books and research to discover interventions that deepen and support our work together. We thoughtfully review our notes, revisit your goals, your assessments, and your treatment plans—always reflecting on how we can best help you move closer to where you want to be.

Because therapy is more than just an hour—you are important to us.

  • AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) is a healing-oriented approach that helps clients process difficult emotions and past wounds in a safe, supportive relationship. Rooted in attachment theory, AEDP gently guides individuals through emotional experiences to uncover resilience, build self-compassion, and promote lasting change. It’s a relational, experiential therapy that focuses on feeling seen, supported, and transformed.

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) is a compassionate, evidence-based therapy that helps you explore and heal the different "parts" within yourself—like the inner critic, the protector, or the wounded child. Rather than trying to get rid of these parts, IFS helps you understand their roles and build a trusting relationship with them, guided by your core Self. It’s a gentle yet powerful way to foster inner harmony, self-leadership, and emotional healing.

  • EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) is a deeply supportive, evidence-based approach to strengthening relationships and healing emotional wounds. Grounded in attachment theory, EFT helps individuals and couples identify negative patterns, express vulnerable emotions, and build secure, lasting bonds. By fostering safety and connection, EFT creates space for deeper understanding, trust, and lasting change.

  • EFT for couples (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) is an evidence-based approach designed to help partners break out of conflict cycles and reconnect emotionally. Rooted in attachment theory, EFT supports couples in identifying the deeper needs and fears beneath their patterns, fostering safety, understanding, and lasting closeness. It helps partners move from disconnection to secure, loving connection—one conversation at a time.

  • The Gottman Method is a research-based approach to couples therapy that helps partners build stronger, healthier relationships through practical tools and deep emotional understanding. Based on decades of relationship science, it focuses on improving communication, managing conflict, increasing intimacy, and building a shared sense of purpose. With a foundation in trust and emotional connection, the Gottman Method supports lasting, resilient love.
